Writing my  Dissertation

There are many ways to start writing your dissertation. But I think first and foremost, you need to create a plan for yourself.  For you, focusing on what goals you need to accomplish is essential when writing your dissertation. You ask, “OK, but how do I create a plan for My Dissertation?” Here is my answer for you. It’s all up to you! You need to set time aside for you to work diligently on your project. Take time to research and especially spend as much time as you can with your advisor.

There are plenty of self-help books out on the net for creating your own dissertation and organizing your time. You may want to view some of the undergraduate dissertation examples before you start your journey. Remember, the undergraduate examples are less complex and have fewer requirements than the graduate ones. You should be thinking by now, “what help books should I use for my dissertation.”

Some books advertise that you can complete your dissertation quickly if you work on it for fifteen minutes a day. I recommend you checking those books out to see if they are of any assistance to you.

ACM dissertation, data analysis disseration, undergraduate dissertation exampleMr. Murray says “as a writer, I have learned from the practical wisdom of Bolker’s fine book. And as a former graduate student advisor, I would require every doctoral student in every discipline in the English-speaking world to read this book.”

Maier says “Writing Your Dissertation in Fifteen Minutes a Day is a great gift not just for “stuck” graduate students and their advisers, but for anyone having trouble writing anything. It is a jargon-free pleasure to read.”

Haibrun says “After directing dissertations for decades, I wish I had had Bolker’s marvelously helpful book from the beginning … Bolker writes with wisdom, humor and wonderful practicality. Get this book for anyone you know who is contemplating, midway into, or finishing a dissertation: you will be blessed.”

Amazon has a spot where people comment on books.

Delaney, a recent reader of Bolker’s book “Writing Your Dissertation in Fifteen Minutes a day” says: While some of the book’s advice is of interest only to dissertation writers, much of the information–on battling writer’s block, for instance–is valuable to anybody engaged in writing. Rather than being filled with rules defining how to become a great writer, Writing Your Dissertation in Fifteen Minutes a Day is about finding the process by which you can be the most productive–it’s a set of exercises that you can use to find out more about you and the way you write. Along the way, you’ll do a bit of writing. And that’s what matters, especially when you experience writer’s block–as Bolker says, “Write anything, because writing is writing.” With its helpful advice and supportive tone, Writing Your Dissertation in Fifteen Minutes a Day should be required reading for anyone considering writing a dissertation.

Keep in mind, there are many different types of dissertations that can be written. You need to think what “my dissertation” should look like. People who are interested in computer sciences often write an ACM Dissertation. Regardless of which type of dissertation you write, you will need to have a plan and create a schedule in order to create an affective research project resulting in a dissertation.
